Lil Twist, currently on the “106 & Park” Closer to My Dreams Tour, discussed working with and being influenced by Lil Wayne during a stop in Los Angeles. The teenaged YMCMB rapper has been taking cues from Weezy when it comes to his own performances, while his rhymes might land on Tha Carter IV.
Rapper Lil Twist is one of the youngest soldiers of Lil Wayne’s Young Money army.Don’t get it twisted, Lil Twist may be young, but when his alter ego Twizzy F. comes out, he definitely transforms into a grown man.GlobalGrind caught up with the Young Money artist on the green carpet of the 2011 BET Awards. Lil Twist dished about being kidnapped by Lil Wayne, Young Money pranks wars and of course, his infamous strip club pictures.
Check out the exclusive interview below!
How has it been touring with Lil Wayne?
Man, it’s been nothing but fun. He’s a person I’ve been looking up to for a minute. Wayne took me in at a young age, so he’s family to me.
Do you play pranks on Lil Wayne while on tour or hanging out?
Sometimes. [laughs]
Has Lil Wayne ever played a prank on you?
Yeah, the tour before last, I sprayed Wayne with a BB gun and he got us back big time.
Did Wayne get you back right away or did he wait until he thought you forgot?
Oh, he got us back right away. He kidnapped us and everything. Then he cut off one of Lil Chuckee’s dreads. Man, it was crazy!
Do you ever prank Lil Wayne while he’s sleeping?
No. We do not want to mess with Wayne while he’s sleeping. [laughs]
There was a picture of you and Lil Wayne in the strip club and you we’re grabbing a stripper’s booty. Tell me how that night was for you?
That night was amazing man! That was my alter ego Twizzy F., who was hanging out with Weezy F. and we were doing what those two guys do. [laughs]
LTF apologizes on not keeping you guys updated on what happened with Twist for his 18th birthday. But, we are here and ready to post. So, this is the run down. Click Continue Reading to see what Twist received for his birthday and little more.
This is not an original LTF post , our good friends at MMN reffered it to usIt’s 24 hours before Lil Wayne is freed from Rikers Island — when he started serving his prison sentence, the trees were similarly bare and New York’s streets were frozen over. His youngest protege, Lil Twist, refers to Wayne as his “twin brother,” an affectionate nod to Weezy’s own beginnings as a teenage prodigy and their shared experience with absentee fathers (Twist’s is also behind bars).
A day removed from his brother-from-another-mother’s re-entry into free society, the 17-year-old MC/musician/social media dynamo is in high spirits. While Wayne’s been in prison, Twist has been mediating his mentor’s endless blogroll and Twitter feeds, and generally keeping big bro connected to his fan base.
So, while he’s understandably excited about his own recently released Takeover: Cart Blanche Edition mixtape and his official 2011 debut, Don’t Get it Twisted (“I’m a very versatile artist. I like to do everything I can and step into every genre there is.”), the junior rhymer’s also got Wayne on the brain.
Twist took a few minutes between baited breaths to talk about what it was like to visit Weezy in prison, who was really writing Wayne’s updates while he was away, what’s next for Young Money, and just when Tha Carter IV will touch down. Read more…
Lil Wayne‘s expected I Am Not A Human Being EP has turned into a full-blown album – set for release on September 27, possibly to be followed by a mixtape to whet the appetite for his anticipated Tha Carter IV album [which is expected to drop next year]. Read more…
